This is a pitch for a 12 issue miniseries featuring DC’s B list Animal themed characters meeting each other and teaming up on an epic adventure which will take them across several cities and states around the US. The two heroes teaming up are Teen Titans member Garfield Logan; better known as Beast Boy and Buddy Baker better known as Animal Man.
ISSUE #1: INSTINCTS
The miniseries opens up in San Francisco where the Teen Titans are based and located. Cut to the Tower, veteran Teen Titan member Beast Boy is pacing around the tower, changing into various animals and goofing off. He’s at a lost and filled with boredom as the various members of the team are either off duty on holiday, busy with school or doing heroics with their respective mentors in their own protected cities/territories.
Beast Boy is soon greeted by Cyborg who has arrived in the tower. His arrival is welcomed by his long time best friend. The two friends one another, Cyborg asks his friend what he’s getting up to in the tower and Beast Boy replies he’s “tower sitting”. Knowing him well, Cyborg invites his friend to come play video games with him and Beast Boy gladly accepts the invitation.
SUDDENLY! The Teen Titans alert system goes off. “TROUBLE DOWNTOWN!” “REQUIRE ASSISTANCE!” Cyborg and Beast Boy stop playing their video games and head down. “TITANS GO!” shouts Beast Boy, with Cyborg looking at him with a confused look on his face. “What Dick ain’t here, someone has to shout our catchphrase to get us ready for action” replies Beast Boy, “Alright then” replies Cyborg. The two head down to the garage and jump in Cyborg’s car and head down town.
The two pull up downtown and the commotion is revealed to be longtime Teen Titans villain; Cinderblock who’s on a rampage; destroying local shops and scaring away the locals. Beast Boy rolls down his window and transforms into a bird, leaving the car still being driven by Cyborg. Flying towards the villain, Beast Boy next transforms into his gorilla form and engages in a brawl with Cinderblock. Physically equal, the two throw punches to one another, “GAR HOLD HIM!” shouts Cyborg, “What?” asks Beast Boy. “Hold him!, trust me I have a plan”, responds Cyborg. Beast Boy transforms into a bear and restrains Cinderblock in a literally Bear Hug, Cyborg puts the car on Autopilot and drives up in front of Cinderblock, “Anytime Vic” says Beast Boy, the sunroof of the car opens up and Cyborg climbs through and opens his left cannon, revealing a massive stun feature, he fires at Cinderblock shouting “BOOYAH!’ as he does. The stun blast hits Cinderblock, knocking him unconscious and the villain falls to the floor. Cyborg leaves his car and goes up to Beast Boy and the two stand over the fallen villain, “Dude!, that was awesome”, says Beast Boy, “Thanks man new invention I wanted to try out, looks like I’ll be using it more often in future” Cyborg tell him, “Let’s go get a pizza to celebrate” says Beast Boy, “You’re on” says Cyborg. The two head inside their car whilst inside Beast Boy asks “We alright leaving him here?”, “Cops are on their way, he’ll be out till he wakes up in his new cell” replies Cyborg. The two proceed to drive away.
Beast Boy and Cyborg are dining in a Pizza Parlour eating their respective favourites; Vegetarian cheese and tomato for Garfield and Meat Lovers for Vic. The two catch up on old times, they talk about their shared history as Teen Titans. Beast Boy lets Cyborg know that while he loves being a Titan, he needs a change; both in scenery and adventure, as he’s spent most his life working in large teams and needs to find himself again as a young adult and hero. Cyborg shares the same sentiments as his best friend, he himself has spent a lot of his time with the Teen Titans & Justice League, he mentions that he’ll return to his hometown of Detroit for a while and set out to become it’s protector again. Garfield wishes his friend good luck in his adventure and Vic asks him where he’s thinking of going for his solo adventure, “Heard San Diego is good in the Summertime” replies Beast Boy. The two order up two more pizzas and raise their drinks and toast to their new endeavours.
EPILOGUE:
Beast Boy in his Eagle form is shown flying, on the horizon is a new adventure and new city, he’ll soon call home. He flies into the city past a welcome sign, the sign reads “Welcome to San Diego”. Beast Boy smiles. End
